1986 Toyota 4Runner DLX
The 4Runner began as a gross project sitting in a field in Oklahoma. When we went to buy the truck, the man almost didn’t sell it to us because he didn’t want us to “go down to Mexico and get murdered”.
Before
The Build
The goal of the 4Runner project was to make the vehicle capable and reliable enough to make it down to Baja and back up without breaking the bank. We spent next to nothing on our 1986 4Runner, which needed some love. The vehicle had yellow accents all over, bald tires from 2001, and a missing rear interior.
The plan was simple, repaint everything that didn’t look good, replace mechanical parts that were worn out, and upgrade where possible.
