The Search for the Perfect Adventure Motorcycle Tire: Reviewing the Mitas E07

When we shop for a tire to install on our adventure bikes, we look for a tire that is good enough in the dirt and that has plenty of traction and longevity for long stretches of pavement. In the realm of adventure and dual-sport riding, the Mitas E07 tire has garnered significant attention for its claimed ability to excel in a variety of terrains. In this review, we’ll delve into the features, performance, and real-world experiences with the Mitas E07 to see if it lives up to the hype.

The Mitas E07 is designed as a 50/50 tire, meaning it’s intended for equal performance on both pavement and off-road surfaces. At around $200, the E07 is a good middle-of-the-road option for riders. Here are some key features:

Tread Design

The aggressive tread pattern of the E07 is optimized for traction in various conditions. Its deep grooves and large, well-spaced lugs provide excellent grip on loose surfaces while maintaining stability on the road. If we were judging the E07 based on performance alone, it is a winner. Treadwear is the only area of concern. We will update this article after we have worn this tire down to see how many miles we get out of it.

Compound

Mitas utilizes a durable compound in the construction of the E07, aimed at maximizing tire life without sacrificing performance. This compound is formulated to resist wear and tear from both asphalt and gravel, extending the tire’s lifespan for long-distance adventurers. I am expecting a bit of cupping on the rear tire due to the amount of highway riding we do, but that’s to be expected and matches other reviews of this tire.

Sidewall Construction

Mitas utilizes a durable compound in the construction of the E07, aimed at maximizing tire life without sacrificing performance. This compound is formulated to resist wear and tear from both asphalt and gravel, extending the tire’s lifespan for long-distance adventurers. I am expecting a bit of cupping on the rear tire due to the amount of highway riding we do, but that’s to be expected and matches other reviews of this tire.

Performance

In terms of performance, the Mitas E07 delivers on its promises of versatility and durability. On pavement, the tire provides a stable and confident ride, with predictable handling through corners and responsive braking. I have around 1000 miles under my belt with these tires and I can report minimal noise and vibration, contributing to a comfortable touring experience.

Off-road, the E07 truly shines. Its aggressive tread pattern bites into loose gravel, mud, and sand, providing ample traction for challenging terrain. Even on wet surfaces, the tire maintains grip, thanks to its deep channels that effectively evacuate water. Whether navigating rocky trails or tackling soft dirt, the E07 inspires confidence, allowing me to push my limits without needing to worry about whether my tire can keep up.

After some time on this tire, the Mitas E07 lives up to its reputation as a top choice for adventure and dual-sport riders. With its versatile tread design, durable construction, and impressive performance on both pavement and off-road terrain, the E07 offers a winning combination for riders seeking confidence and reliability on their journeys.
